Bermuda’s Rudy Bailey has secured another historic international title after being crowned the International Comet Champion following a masterclass on the water off the Corsica River Yacht Club.
The landmark victory arrives amid growing frustration over the traditional lack of sustained coverage given to the historic Comet Class by the local daily paper—a triumph of this magnitude ensuring the fleet's achievements can no longer be overlooked.
Skippering Equalizer, the veteran Bermudian sailor produced a commanding display across the regatta, clinching the title with an impressive total of just 12 net points.
Bailey held off stiff international competition to top the podium:
Rudy Bailey (Bermuda): 1st place – 12 net points
Jessica Gruskos: 2nd place – 15 net points
Wick Dudley: 3rd place – 17 net points
Fellow Bermudian sailor Gregory Wade also represented the island in the competitive fleet, putting together a determined series to finish 12th overall with 47 net points.
With international silverware returning home once again, the performance serves as a timely reminder of the caliber within Bermuda's Comet fleet—delivering results on the world stage that demand the recognition and headlines they have long warranted.
