Jack Harvey Battles to Eighth in Pan Pacific Final
Jack Harvey secured an eighth-place finish in the Championship A Final of the Men’s 100m Backstroke as Bermuda’s elite swimming trio made a strong impression on the opening day of the 2026 Pan Pacific Swimming Championships in Irvine, California.

Having starred in the morning preliminary session at the William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center—touching the wall in 54.51 seconds to take ninth overall—Jack Harvey booked his place directly in the evening's flagship event. Returning for the final, the backstroke specialist clocked 55.16 seconds to wrap up an impressive top-eight finish against world-class opposition.

The opening day also provided plenty of encouragement in the Women’s 50m Butterfly, where Emma Harvey and Madelyn Moore both produced sharp preliminary swims.

Emma Harvey qualified 15th overall with a time of 26.91 to seal her place in the B Final, while teammate Moore missed out on progression by just two spots, touching in 28.27 to claim the first reserve position. Emma Harvey duly seized her evening opportunity, improving her morning mark to stop the clock in 26.83 seconds to claim a solid sixth place in the consolation final.

Earlier in the program, Emma Harvey was back in action for the Women’s 100m Backstroke, recording a time of 1:03.13 to finish 28th overall in a heavily stacked field.

With finals momentum under their belt, the Bermudian contingent will look to build on their promising opening-day displays as the multi-day international championship progresses in California.
