Burnley FC Academy Under-18s were left to rue a narrow defeat after a hard-fought performance ended in a 2-1 loss against Rangers Under-19s.
Tony Philliskirk’s side pushed the Scottish outfit all the way in a competitive encounter, showing plenty of resilience despite ultimately falling just short on the day.
The match featured 17-year-old Bermudian prospect Blayz Borgesson, who recently committed his future to the Turf Moor club by signing a contract running through to the end of the 2026/27 season.
Borgesson and his Under-18 teammates showed plenty of fight against higher-age opposition, matching Rangers' intensity for long spells and carving out opportunities to snatch a result.
However, despite a late surge from the young Clarets, Rangers held firm to claim victory, leaving Philliskirk's side to draw encouragement from an encouraging and spirited display.
