IslandStats.com
Bermuda celebrated its first medal of the 2026 Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games as Jack Harvey powered to bronze in the men's 50m backstroke, highlighting another busy day for the island's athletes in the Dominican Republic.

Competing at the Juan Pablo Duarte Aquatic Center, Harvey qualified for the A Final after winning his heat in 25.37 seconds, the second-fastest time overall. The Bermudian then went even quicker in the final, clocking 25.33 seconds to secure the bronze medal and Bermuda's first podium finish of the Games.

Madelyn Moore also reached the women's 50m backstroke A Final after posting the third-fastest qualifying time of 29.40 seconds. She finished ninth in the final with a time of 29.80.

Elan Daley qualified for the women's 100m butterfly A Final after advancing with the eighth-fastest time of 1:02.74, before placing 10th overall in 1:03.89.

Elijah Daley continued his record-breaking week by winning the men's 100m butterfly B Final in 54.39 seconds, lowering his own Bermuda national record of 55.32 set at the 2024 Ontario Swimming Championships.

Elsewhere, Bermuda's men's bowling team finished ninth in the team event with 2,893 pins, while Angela Halloran placed 14th and 17th respectively in the two rounds of the individual dressage competition aboard Evert van de Noeste Hoeve.

On the hockey field, Bermuda were unable to build on their victory over Jamaica, suffering a 9-0 defeat to Cuba.

In beach volleyball, Natalie Gazzard and Megan Hands were beaten by Costa Rica in the 9th-12th place play-off before injury forced them to withdraw from the 11th-12th place match, handing Belize a walkover victory.

Despite mixed fortunes across several sports, Harvey's bronze medal ensured it was a memorable day for Bermuda, with the swimmer delivering the island's first trip to the podium at these CAC Games.
