Somerset Reclaim Ocean View Cup Match Golf Title

Somerset produced a dominant all-round team performance to defeat St. George's 511-461 and lift the Ocean View Cup Match Golf Tournament, with the western parish claiming the annual bragging rights through the Stableford scoring system.

The victory was built on strength throughout Somerset's line-up, with the champions claiming six of the top 10 individual finishing positions and sharing the top two spots on the leaderboard.

Dwayne Pearman and Jonathan James led the way for Somerset, finishing tied for first after each amassed 34 Stableford points. Their outstanding rounds set the tone for Somerset's title-winning display.

Mark Ray was the highest-placed St. George's golfer, finishing tied for third on 33 points alongside Somerset's Darrin Lewis.

Diego McCallan was fifth with 31 points to give St. George's another strong finish near the top of the standings, while Kyle Lightbourne of Somerset and Darriek Douglas of St. George's shared sixth place on 30 points.

St. George's pair Damon Rabain and Ebonie Cox finished tied for eighth with 29 points, before Somerset's Steven Almeida and Quinton Sherlock shared 10th place on 28 points.

Somerset continued to dominate the middle of the leaderboard with Earlston Wolffe and Eugene Richardson tied for 12th on 27 points. Kavon Trott, Marcelos Thomas and Andrew Trott then shared 14th place on 26 points alongside St. George's Henry Ascento.

Terryn Fray finished 18th with 25 points for Somerset, while Azeem Khan tied for 19th on 24 points with St. George's duo Calvin Richardson and Richard Jones.

Phil Talbot, Alan Lugo and Glen Baisden all scored 23 points for St. George's to finish tied for 22nd, joined by Somerset's Donovan Livingston.

Garry Burgess was 26th for Somerset with 22 points, while Vincent Minors and Morgan Lightbourne of St. George's shared 27th on 21 points alongside Somerset's Jeff Richardson and Michael Tucker.

Rahji Edness finished 31st with 20 points for Somerset, while Lionel Cann and Bayon Robinson of St. George's, together with Somerset's Gary Peniston, tied for 32nd on 19 points.

Anthony Bascome completed the standings for St. George's, finishing 35th with 18 points.

While individual honours were shared at the top of the leaderboard, Somerset's depth ultimately proved decisive, with consistent scoring throughout the team delivering a convincing 50-point victory and another Ocean View Cup Match Golf Tournament title.
