Junior golfers Lewis MacFarlane and Bradford Laing have concluded their campaigns at the prestigious International Optimist Junior Golf Tournament, staged on the formidable Blue Monster Course at Trump Doral.
Competing in the Boys' 12–13 Age Group Division, MacFarlane finished 4th following three rounds, carding a combined total of 13-over par.
The young golfer experienced a testing opening round with a 3-over par 75—a card containing three birdies and ten pars, but also four bogeys, and a double bogey, underlining the uncompromising nature of the course.
MacFarlane demonstrated admirable resilience in his second round, bouncing back sharply to shoot his lowest score of the tournament: a 1-over par 73 featuring three birdies and eleven pars. He closed out his tournament with an 11-over par 83, which included ten pars.
In the Boys' 10–11 Age Group Division, debutant Bradford Laing impressed on his Optimist Junior Golf Tournament bow, securing a 14th-place finish at 37-over par.
Laing opened with a 10-over par 81 (one birdie and 10 pars), before navigating a tricky second round of 16-over par 87. He finished strongly in his final round, recording two birdies and seven pars en route to an 11-over par 82.
While the final leaderboards tell only part of the story, the test of tackling a world-renowned venue like the Blue Monster against premier international junior talent promises to serve as a vital stepping stone in the ongoing development of both players.
