Smith and Frenchay Coast to Eight-Wicket Victory

IslandStats.com
Madushan Ravichandrakumar produced a superb all-round performance to guide Frenchay CC to a commanding eight-wicket win over Bedminster CC.

The comprehensive victory, coming in the West of England Premier Cricket League (Bristol & North Somerset), was built on a clinical bowling display followed by an assertive run chase.

Having won the toss and elected to bat, Bedminster's decision backfired as they were dismantled and bowled out for just 154. Lewis Shean provided the only major resistance for the visitors, anchoring the top order with a gritty knock of 42.

However, Frenchay’s bowling attack kept the pressure relentless. Ravichandrakumar was the pick of the bowlers, returning exceptionally economical figures of 3-23 from his 8.2 overs.

Bermudian seam bowler Chare Smith offered excellent support from the other end, finishing with steady figures of 1-27 from his seven overs while also holding onto a sharp catch to stifle Bedminster's momentum.

The target of 155 proved to be comfortable territory for the hosts. Frenchay needed just two wickets down to cross the line, reaching 157-2 in reply.

Ravichandrakumar swapped the ball for the bat to lead the chase, top-scoring with a fluent half-century (54) to put the result beyond doubt.

Despite Ben Cunliffe's best efforts with the ball for Bedminster—claiming 2-32 from his seven overs—Frenchay cruised home to secure the maximum league points.
