Horan Stars in the Field as King's College Capture T20 Crown

Shrewsbury School 117 King's College, Taunton 119/5

Bermuda international Luke Horan signed off his school career in spectacular fashion as King's College, Taunton were crowned the National Schools Under-18 T20 Cricket Cup champions.

The Somerset-based school secured their second national T20 title with a clinical five-wicket victory over international heavyweights Shrewsbury School at the picturesque Wormsley Cricket Ground.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Shrewsbury School found themselves relentlessly suffocated by a disciplined King's College attack. While Liam Grindlay offered stiff resistance at the top of the order with a hard-fought 36, the introduction of Horan threw the innings into absolute chaos.

Horan tore through the middle order to finish with exceptionally tight figures of 2 wickets for 21 runs from his 3.5 overs.

Even more devastating was Horan's electric presence in the field. The young Bermudian plucked a sharp catch out of the air and showed lightning-quick reflexes to disrupt Shrewsbury's running between the wickets, directly orchestrating two crucial run-outs to bundle out the opposition for a meager 117 in 19.5 overs.

Horan was brilliantly complemented by teammate Jago Barclay, who mirrored his efficiency to return equally devastating figures of 2 for 21 from his maximum four overs.

Opening batter Rishabh Shimpi set a magnificent platform, dismantling the early new-ball pressure with an elegant, match-winning half-century. Shimpi’s anchoring knock of 50 ensured that despite losing a cluster of middle-order wickets to Grindlay—who capped off a fine individual day for Shrewsbury by taking 2 for 17—the target was always well within reach.

Horan chipped in with a steady 6 out in the middle to keep the scoreboard ticking over, allowing King's College to comfortably cross the finish line at 119 for 5 with more than three overs to spare.
