Bermudian tennis prospect Lee Terceira has completed a spectacular, whirlwind week on the court, capturing two tournament titles back-to-back on both local and international soil.
Just days after lifting the Under-14 Girls' trophy at the prestigious Highland Spring tournament at Pomander Gate, the rising star boarded a flight to Florida to test herself at the elite Emilio Sanchez Academy USTA Level 6 tournament.
Showing no signs of travel fatigue, Terceira dismantled a highly competitive international field featuring top-tier players from Florida, Norway, and New Jersey to claim the crown.
Entering the USTA tournament as the number two seed, Terceira lived up to her billing in the Girls' 12 & Under Singles Main Draw. She opened her campaign with a ruthless display in the quarter-finals, brushing aside America's Isabela Lewis in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1.
The semi-finals proved a similarly clinical affair. Facing off against Petra Lee, Terceira showcased superb baseline composure and tactical maturity to advance to the showpiece match with another straight-sets victory, 6-3, 6-2.
The tournament concluded with a blockbuster, dream final, pitting the tournament’s top two players against one another as Terceira faced the number one seed, Gia Dilello of New Jersey.
Despite the immense pressure of facing the top seed, the young Bermudian raised her game to a completely different level. Terceira dictated the tempo from the opening serve, breaking Dilello early in both sets to cruise to an emphatic 6-2, 6-3 victory.
The extraordinary achievement marks a massive milestone in Terceira's developmental career. To transition seamlessly from an under-14 local surface straight into a high-intensity USTA international arena—and win both within the space of a single week—proves the island has a serious talent on its hands as she continues her rapid ascent through the junior ranks.
