Bermuda Swimmers Shine in Greensboro with Multiple Finals

IslandStats.com
Bermuda's rising swimming talents enjoyed a superb second evening at the 70th Annual Eastern Invitational, storming into multiple finals at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.

On a busy night of high-calibre racing, the island's athletes showcased their depth across both individual sprints and highly competitive team relays.

The fast-paced 50m freestyle events provided plenty of drama for the Bermudian contingent. In the 13-14 boys' division, Jacob Leclerc fought his way into the prestigious 'A' final, finishing a commendable eighth overall against top-tier regional opposition.

In the 15 and over age bracket, Katherine Wheddon secured eighth place in the girls' 'C' final, while the boys' events saw a flurry of red, white, and blue caps. Noah Maranzana led the charge in the 'B' final with a strong fifth-place finish. Meanwhile, Gabriel Maranzana dominated the 'C' final to take first place, closely followed by team-mate Dominic Wright, who claimed third.

Wright was quickly back in the pool for the 100m backstroke, securing a solid seventh place in the 15 and over 'B' final. In the grueling 200m butterfly, Logan Jones flew the flag for Bermuda in the 15 and over 'C' final, touching the wall in fifth position.

The evening concluded with a thrilling display in the 200m mixed medley relay, where Bermuda's collective strength was on full display.

The quarter of Elanna Fulton, Noah Maranzana, Logan Jones, and Katherine Wheddon combined brilliantly to secure a fifth-place finish. Not far behind, the second Bermudian team of Allison Steynor, Jamie MacFarlane, Jorgia White, and Gabriel Maranzana rounded out a highly successful night by claiming seventh.

The impressive haul of finals appearances leaves the squad in high spirits as the prestigious invitational continues in North Carolina.
