The FrayStar Cricket Institute has launched its Inaugural Youth Cricket Festival for Under-15 teams in an ambitious bid to breathe fresh life into youth cricket and halt a decline in teenage participation across Bermuda.
The tournament, which will take place on June 27th and 28th at the Saltus School Field, aims to tackle a critical drop-off point in the local game by keeping young players actively engaged through a positive, competitive framework.
Organisers emphasize that the two-day showcase will focus heavily on character development, teamwork, and discipline alongside traditional on-field skills.
"This event is about much more than cricket," the FrayStar Cricket Institute said in a statement. "It is about creating opportunities, building friendships, developing character, and keeping our young people engaged in a positive environment.
"The Under-15 age group is often where participation begins to decline, and we believe it is our responsibility as a cricket community to provide meaningful experiences that inspire youngsters to stay involved in the game."
The tournament arrives at a crucial time for the domestic sport, with an increasing focus on rebuilding grassroots structures and solidifying strong fundamentals, respect, and personal growth among the island's next generation of players.
The Institute added: "At FrayStar Cricket Institute, we are committed to breathing life back into youth cricket by focusing on strong fundamentals, discipline, teamwork, respect, and personal development. Our goal is not simply to develop better cricketers, but to help shape better people."
Large crowds of parents, supporters, and volunteers are expected to descend on the Saltus School Field for what promises to be a timely celebration of the island's emerging sporting talent.
