In a showcase of the island’s domestic depth, Tariq Simons and Cyre Trott emerged as the standout singles victors, while a veteran pairing rolled back the years to claim mixed doubles glory.
In the Men’s A Division final, the top-seeded Tariq Simons further cemented his status as the man to beat in Bermudian tennis. Facing the rising talent of Zach McGuire, Simons displayed a masterclass in baseline control and defensive resilience. After breezing through a 6-1 opening set, Simons weathered a spirited comeback attempt from McGuire in the second to close out a 6-1, 6-4 victory.
The Men’s B Division final offered a more attritional battle in its opening exchanges. Cyre Trott was pushed to the limit by Renie Marcos in a fluctuating first set that saw both players struggle to hold serve under the midday heat. However, once Trott secured the opener 7-5, the momentum shifted entirely. Exploiting Marcos’s fatigue, Trott dominated the second set to secure a 7-5, 6-1 straight-sets triumph.
The day’s action was rounded out by a high-quality Mixed Doubles Final, where the experienced duo of Jenson Bascome and Shonette Wilson proved too tactical for their younger opponents. Facing the partnership of Zach McGuire and Arianna Parra, Bascome’s net play and Wilson’s consistency from the back of the court proved the decisive factor.
