In a dominant display of depth across both track and field disciplines, Saltus Grammar School amassed a combined total of 591.50 points to distance themselves from the chasing pack and secure their status as the island's premier middle school program.
The battle for the divisional crowns saw a split in fortunes between the top institutions. Saltus Grammar School powered to victory in the Female Team Division with 314 points, narrowly fending off a spirited challenge from Bermuda High School. However, Whitney Institute Middle School showcased their own athletic prowess by claiming the Male Team Division title with a total of 308 points, holding off a strong Saltus Grammar School contingent in the process.
The high-octane atmosphere was matched by historic individual performances, as two long-standing records fell during the meet. Colette Durkin of Warwick Academy etched her name into the history books in the Under 13 Girls 1500 Metre Run. In a breathtaking finish that drew the crowd to their feet, Durkin clocked a record-breaking 5:09.67, just barely edging out Evelyn Fahy of Somersfield Academy, who also dipped under the previous record with a time of 5:09.93.
Success continued for Saltus Grammar School in the relay events, where the Over 13 Girls 4x100 Metre team delivered a flawless baton-passing performance. The quartet of Leydi Raynor, Zahra Goodchild, Amaya Davis, and Jasmine Reid-Rubaine combined to stop the clock at 51.97 seconds, shattering the previous record and cementing their dominance on the track.
In the individual standings, several athletes emerged as triple-threat contenders. Jasmine Reid-Rubaine of Saltus Grammar School and Xander Romeo of Mount Saint Agnes Academy both secured perfect scores of 30 points to lead the Over 13 categories. In the Under 12 divisions, Kierra Broadley-Samuels of Saltus Grammar School shared the top spot with Jordyn Lewis of Bermuda High School, while Shanzae Smith of Sandy’s Secondary Middle School dominated the boys' bracket.
Whitney Institute Middle School and Warwick Academy rounded out the top three in the overall standings, confirming their positions as significant forces in the local sporting landscape. With record-breaking times and exceptional point tallies across the board, the 2026 championships served as a vivid reminder of the burgeoning talent currently rising through the Bermudian school system.
