Somerset and Bascome Among the Winners in Kappa Classic

IslandStats.com
The 2026 Kappa Classic concluded in spectacular fashion at the National Sports Centre North Field, as the island’s premier youth football showpiece overcame a week of turbulent weather to crown its newest champions.

Widely regarded as the largest and most prestigious youth tournament on the local sporting calendar, the event once again transformed the North Field into a hub of high-stakes competition and community spirit. Despite significant meteorological interruptions earlier in the schedule, the tournament organizers worked tirelessly to ensure every bracket reached its conclusion, culminating in a final day of high-quality football.

In the flagship Under 15 Boys final, the Somerset Trojans Red produced a dominant defensive display to secure a 2-0 victory over the PHC Zebras. The Trojans’ clinical finishing proved to be the difference in a tactical battle that saw them capitalize on two second-half openings to silence the Zebras’ faithful. However, PHC found redemption in the Under 15 Girls division, where the Lady Zebras mirrored that scoreline with a 2-0 triumph over BFLA Blacks to secure the championship trophy.

FC Bascome enjoyed a particularly fruitful afternoon, securing two major titles in the boys' brackets. Their Under 13 squad showcased exceptional technical skill to overcome PHC Zebras Blacks with a 2-0 win, while the Under 11 FC Bascome Blue side edged out Warwick Football Academy Ajax 2-1 in what was arguably the most competitive match of the day. Warwick Football Academy did not leave empty-handed, however, as their Under 13 Girls Independiente side secured a hard-fought 1-0 win over BFLA Blacks to claim their divisional title.

The younger age groups provided plenty of goals and excitement for the capacity crowd. The Boulevard Blazers were the standout performers in the Under 7 Boys category, delivering a ruthless 5-0 victory over X-Roads Black. In the Under 9 Boys division, Devonshire Colts Orange claimed the silverware with a 3-1 win over Somerset Trojans Red, while the BFLA Blacks celebrated a narrow 1-0 victory over PHC Lady Zebras to take the Under 9 Girls crown.

As the final whistles blew across the North Field, the 2026 edition of the Kappa Classic stood as a testament to the resilience of the local sporting community. With hundreds of young athletes having showcased their talents over the course of the week, the tournament once again served its purpose as a vital pipeline for the next generation of Bermudian footballing talent.
