Sprinter Norre Robinson showcased his developing form on home tracks this weekend, representing Louisiana Tech at the Jim Mize Invitational in Ruston.
In the Men’s 100m, Robinson navigated a competitive field at the Jim Mize Track and Field Complex to clock a solid 10.69. The performance earned the freshman a 12th-place finish, as he continues to adapt to the high-intensity environment of collegiate sprinting following his record-breaking junior career in Bermuda.
The 18-year-old followed up with an even stronger showing in the 200m. Demonstrating the endurance that saw him reach the World Under-20 Championships in Lima last year, Robinson powered through the bend to stop the clock in 21.51. The time was good enough for 10th place overall, providing a vital top-ten finish for the Bulldogs in their home meet.
The Jim Mize Invitational serves as a key mid-season marker for the Louisiana Tech program, allowing athletes to test their speed against regional rivals in familiar conditions. For Robinson, these consistent sub-11 and sub-22 second performances indicate he is finding his rhythm at exactly the right time as the squad builds toward the Conference USA Outdoor Championships.
The Bulldogs will now look to carry this momentum into their next outing at the LSU Alumni Gold in Baton Rouge, where Robinson is expected to feature prominently in both individual sprints and relay duties.
