Manders & Rest of the World Stun USA Legends in Opener

IslandStats.com
Rest of the World 134/6 USA Legends 115

Rest of the World Won by 19 Runs

Andre Manders played a pivotal role with both bat and ball as the Rest of the World XI secured a hard-fought victory over the USA Legends to open their campaign in the 2026 Over 60 International Quad Series.

In a low-scoring but high-intensity encounter at the Wright Cricket Field in Woodley Park, the USA Legends won the toss and elected to field, a decision that initially seemed inspired. The American bowling attack, led by a clinical David Martil, applied relentless pressure throughout the 45-over innings. Martil was the standout performer, returning remarkable figures of two for 12 from his six overs to keep the Rest of the World’s scoring in check.

Despite the early wickets, Simon Balcombe provided the necessary backbone for the international side, anchoring the innings with a top score of 32. Manders chipped in with a vital five runs in the middle order, helping his side navigate a difficult surface to post a modest total of 134 for six.

The USA Legends began their chase with confidence, spearheaded by a commanding half-century from Mahmood Shahid. Shahid’s 65 appeared to have the hosts in the driving seat, but the Rest of the World’s bowling unit produced a disciplined second-half display to trigger a dramatic collapse.

Sivaselvanathan Harindren was the catalyst for the comeback, ripping through the middle order to claim four wickets for just 19 runs. He was expertly supported by Andy Gregory, whose nine-over spell yielded four wickets for 35 runs, while Manders maintained the pressure from the other end. The Bermudian international finished with tidy figures of one for 26 from his five overs, helping to restrict the scoring as the USA Legends were eventually bowled out for 115.

The 19-run victory provides a perfect start for Manders and his teammates in the round-robin tournament. With fixtures against Canada Masters and the USA Legends Hawks still to come this week in Los Angeles, the Rest of the World have established themselves as early contenders for a place in the series final.
