Elijah Daley produced an outstanding performance at the Varsity Pool, coming close to his own record as the No. 4 ranked University of Toronto Men’s Swimming team took on McGill University.
In a high-caliber dual meet at the U of T Winter Invitational, the Varsity Blues continued their clinical start to 2026. While the team battle against the Montreal-based powerhouse provided plenty of drama, it was Daley’s individual brilliance in the butterfly that stole the headlines.
The standout moment of the meet came in the Men’s 200 SC Meter Butterfly.
Touching the wall in a blistering 2:00.82, Daley came close to his Personal Best which is 1:59:40.
He nearly completed a Butterfly Double, securing a hard-fought second-place finish in the 50 SC Meter Butterfly with a sharp time of 24.93 seconds.
Daley’s contributions extended far beyond his specialist stroke. The sophomore showed his range across multiple disciplines:
100 SC Meter IM: Daley claimed another second-place finish, clocking a rapid 57.02 to pick up valuable points for the Blues.
200 SC Meter Freestyle Relay: Swimming the third leg for the 'A' team, Daley helped propel Toronto to a third-place finish in a time of 1:34.34.
