Bermuda UK Footballers Saturday Round Up

Wells Celebrates Scoring
IslandStats.com
Cardiff City have tightened their grip on the top spot of the table after a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Bradford City in a pulsating encounter at the University of Bradford Stadium.

Nathan Trott and his teammates showed the resolve of champions-elect, weathering late pressure from the Bantams to secure three vital points. The win sees the Bluebirds open up a commanding six-point lead, putting clear daylight between themselves and the chasing pack as the promotion race heats up.

In the day’s most dramatic comeback, Luton Town recovered from a disastrous opening period to claim a 2-2 draw against an in-form Lincoln City.

The Town faithful were stunned into silence early on as Freddie Draper and Rob Street clinical finishes handed the visitors a two-goal cushion midway through the first half. However, the momentum shifted rapidly before the interval.

Gideon Kodua pulled one back to spark the revival, before Nahki Wells sent Kenilworth Road into raptures with a thunderous low drive that flew into the bottom corner. Despite a frantic second half, neither side could find a winner, leaving the points shared in an entertaining stalemate.

It was a busy afternoon across the pyramid, with several notable performances and results involving key names in the non-league circuit:

National League South: Kane Crichlow helped Chelmsford City to a gritty 1-0 win over Weston-super-Mare at the Dunmow Group Community Stadium.

National League North: Justin Donawa and Keziah Martin both featured from the start for Hereford FC in a cagey 0-0 draw against King's Lynn Town.

Southern League Central: Milan Butterfield’s Halesowen Town edged Royston Town 2-1, while Willie Clemons and Leiston FC played out a scoreless draw with Stourbridge.

The Big Winners: Needham Market secured a massive three points against Stratford Town. The 1-0 win was built on a "world-class" strike from Reggie, but the headlines were shared with goalkeeper James Bradbrook, whose "unreal" double save ensured a clean sheet.

There was frustration for Harry Twite and Loughborough Students, who surrendered a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 with Basford United. Elsewhere, Ajani Burchall’s Wimborne Town earned a 1-1 draw against Hungerford.

In a high-scoring thriller, Zhani Burgess remained an unused substitute as Quorn FC fell just short in a 4-3 defeat to Spalding United.
