The Bermuda Amateur Swimming Association (BASA) Winter Age Group Championships concluded with the announcement of the Age Group High Point Champions, highlighted by a long-standing record falling to Jorgia White and several athletes hitting crucial Carifta qualifying times.
The most significant performance of the championships came from Jorgia White, who broke the 1500m Freestyle record on Sunday morning. Her time of 18:35.90 surpassed the previous record of 18:37.38, which had been held by Stephanie Myles since 2009.
White was also crowned the highest-scoring swimmer in the 15 & Over Women Division with 3,319 points, narrowly defeating Marleigh Howes (3,195 points). Howes, however, achieved the highest individual score of the meet for the women, securing 616 points during the 100m Freestyle.
The championships saw multiple athletes achieve the necessary qualifying times for the 2026 Carifta Swimming Championships, including Elanna Fulton, Colette Durkin, and Axel Wernbo.
The overall highest individual score of the meet belonged to Thomas Cechini, who secured 694 points during the 400m Freestyle. In the 15 & Over Men division, the High Point Champion was Logan Jones with 3,444 points, followed by Noah Fulton (2,829 points) and Joseph Lau (2,768 points).
The younger age groups showcased deep talent across the board:
13-14 Women: Isla Cooze (2,529) led the division, followed by Zara Bule (2,321) and Sofia Leclerc (2,285).
13-14 Men: Ethan Smith (2,573) took the top spot, ahead of Jacob Leclerc (2,469) and Thomas Twilley (1,405).
11-12 Women: Colette Durkin (2,501) was the champion, with Madison Fox (2,233) and Evelyn Fahy (2,148) making the podium.
11-12 Men: Maxwell Williams (1,488) edged out Walker Smith (1,484) by just four points, with Kanyon Armstrong (1,176) third.
10 & Under Women: Myla Desjardins (1,206) was the top scorer, followed by Willa Wright (967) and Aine Fahy (919).
10 & Under Men: Niklas Bock (924) was the champion, with Joseph Herron (224) in second
