Bermuda Makes Strong Start at CASA Senior Championships

The Caribbean Area Squash Association (CASA) Senior Championships got underway in Guyana, with the Bermuda contingent securing multiple victories in the Men's and Women's Individual action on the opening day.
The Bermudian men demonstrated strong early form, with three players securing straight-sets victories.
Fresh off his recent Club Championship win, Anaya Smith carried his momentum onto the international stage, cruising past Ross D'Juran with a commanding 3-0 win (11-2, 11-8, 11-2).
Veteran player Micah Franklin also started his tournament with a decisive victory, defeating Daniel Henderson 3-0 (11-7, 11-3, 11-4).
Further ensuring Bermuda's dominance, Taylor Carrick delivered an equally comprehensive 3-0 win against Brandon de Montrichard of Trinidad, securing the victory with scores of 11-3, 11-2, 11-1.
The Bermuda men continued their positive momentum as Noah Browne overcame Zaki Williams in a tight four-set battle, winning 3-1 (11-9, 6-11, 11-9, 13-11). The only setback in the men's draw saw D'vario Thompson go down 3-0 to Darien Benn (11-4, 11-5, 11-2).
In the Women's Individual draw, Abigail Brewer secured a hard-fought opening victory, defeating Lara Conolly from the British Virgin Islands 3-1. Brewer showed resilience after dropping the second set, winning with scores of 11-7, 8-11, 11-7, 11-4.
However, Alex Furtado faced a tough challenge in her opener, going down 3-0 to Jade Pitcarin, also from the British Virgin Islands (11-2, 11-4, 11-8).
The strong showing on the opening day provides an excellent foundation for the Bermuda team as the individual championships progress.
