Thomas Cechini delivered a strong individual performance, highlighted by a victory in the freestyle event, as he and his Loyola University Maryland Men's Swimming and Diving teammates competed in exhibition events during a meet against Richmond.
The meet provided an important opportunity for the Greyhounds to test their depth, and Cechini rose to the occasion with several impressive swims.
Cechini secured the top result of his day by winning the Men's 200 Yard Freestyle event. He touched the wall first with a time of 1 minute, 43.35 seconds (1:43.35), demonstrating excellent form and speed over the distance.
He also put in a respectable showing in the shorter Men's 100 Yard Breaststroke, securing a third-place finish with a time of 1 minute, 0.14 seconds (1:00.14).
Cechini also featured prominently in Loyola’s relay squads:
200 Yard Medley Relay: Cechini swam the crucial third leg for the Loyola University-MD C team, helping them secure a fourth-place finish with a time of 1:32.89.
400 Yard Freestyle Relay: He took the second leg for the Loyola University-MD C team, which finished fifth overall, clocking 3:11.73.
