Bermuda's Olympic triathlon stars, Tyler Smith and Erica Hawley, delivered commanding performances at the Cambridge Beaches Triathlon to claim the Adult Individual Sprint Male and Female titles, respectively. Both athletes won their divisions comfortably, clearly demonstrating the distance between the professional elite and the amateur field.
Smith put on a masterclass in speed and efficiency to secure the Men's championship. He clocked a phenomenal winning time of 54:52, finishing nearly five minutes ahead of the nearest rival.
Smith’s victory was built on a balanced and dominant display across all three legs:
Swim: A blistering 10:05 to exit the water with the lead group.
Bike: An impressive 27:00 on the cycling segment.
Run: A swift 16:08 to close out the race and secure the title.
The Men's podium was rounded out by Jackson Langley, who finished second overall with a time of 59:26, and Gianluca Bortoli, who secured third place, stopping the clock at 1:00:08.
In the Women's race, Hawley proved her class, finishing as the top female competitor and an incredible 5th overall in the field. She completed the sprint distance in a time of 1:01:10, showcasing her all-around ability.
Hawley’s impressive splits were:
Swim: 10:37 as she exited the water.
Bike: 30:41 for the bike segment.
Run: A rapid 17:54 for the final run.
The female podium saw Marie Dore finish as the second female and 10th overall in 1:08:13, while Lynsey Palmer took the third female spot and 11th overall with a time of 1:09:25.
The team events also provided exciting competition, highlighting the depth of talent across Bermuda’s endurance sports community:
Adult All Male Team Sprint: The Tri-ing to beat Tyler team secured victory in 58:23. This powerhouse trio included the 2025 Sinclair Packwood Memorial Race champion Matt Boys, and Bermuda Day Half Marathon champion Sean Trott, alongside Craig Munden.
Adult Mixed Team Sprint: The JackZanderSkyler team, featuring Olympic swimmer Jack Harvey, Skyler Powell, and Zander Miller, clinched the mixed event title with a time of 1:02:33.
Adult All Female Team Sprint: The Bermuda Tri Angels—comprised of Carmen Loots, Frances Smith, and Madelyn Moore—won their category in 1:16:48.
The 2025 Cambridge Beaches Triathlon proved to be a resounding success, headlined by dominant displays from the island’s Olympic representatives.
