The 7th Caribbean Development Championship 2025 saw the focus shift to the men’s divisions, where Bermuda's archers faced stiff competition in challenging conditions. While the team was unable to secure further medals today, the performances highlighted the steep learning curve required at this international level.
In the U15 Recurve Men’s Development Division, Bermuda’s young talent Braden Fraser stepped up to the line. He came up against a strong local competitor, Kristian Charles from the host nation, Trinidad & Tobago.
Fraser put up a solid fight but ultimately went down with a score of 6-2. The experience gained from competing in such a prestigious tournament, particularly against top archers from the Caribbean, will prove invaluable for his future development.
In the senior ranks, Damon Watson represented Bermuda in the Barebow Senior Men’s/Women’s Development Division.
Watson faced a formidable challenge from Juanita Persaud of Guyana. In a tough contest, Watson was defeated 6-0. The barebow division demands exceptional focus and technique without the aid of sights, making the margin for error extremely small.
While the results didn't go their way, the participation of both Fraser and Watson underscores the growth of competitive archery in Bermuda and the commitment to exposing athletes to international-calibre events.
