The unpredictable Caribbean weather threw its worst at the competitors, but not even high winds and heavy rain could halt the action on Day X of the 7th Caribbean Development Championship 2025. Amidst the challenging conditions in Trinidad & Tobago, a determined team from Bermuda persevered to secure a well-earned Bronze Medal as the day concluded.
The morning began with the Individual Recurve Beginner Under 15 Women's division, where Bermuda's young archers faced stiff competition.
Aurora Bowers took on Zoey Vinck from Curaçao in the 1/8th Round. Despite a valiant effort, Bowers ultimately fell with a score of 6-2. In the same division, Sophia Davidge received a bye in the 1/8th Round, progressing straight to the quarter-finals. However, her run was cut short when she was defeated 6-0 by Trinidad's formidable Tiana Seecharan.
The Bermudian archers put their individual setbacks behind them to focus on the Women’s Recurve Under 15 Doubles event.
Teaming up, Bowers and Davidge first faced the host nation, Trinidad, and were defeated 6-0. This placed them into the crucial Bronze Medal Match, where they squared off against the team from Curaçao.
In a tense showdown, the Bermudian duo showcased their resilience and teamwork, rising above the adverse conditions and the pressure of the moment. They were victorious, winning the match and clinching the Bronze Medal for Bermuda. It was a well-deserved reward for their persistence and a promising sign for the future of archery on the island.
The tournament continues tomorrow, with the remaining divisions set to compete, weather permitting. Can Bermuda add more to their medal tally?
