Jonte Smith IslandStats.com The Bermuda Football Association (BFA) Premier and First Division seasons are now fully underway, and the latest round of matches produced a spectacular 31 goals across just eight games, firmly establishing the early title contenders in both leagues.
PREMIER DIVISION
After three rounds of action, the Premier Division title race is shaping up to be a thrilling two-way contest at the top, currently separated only by goal difference.
X-Road’s currently lead the league standings with seven points and a goal difference of plus four (+4).
They are placed just ahead of the Dandy Town Hornets, who also boast seven points but sit at plus two (+2) on goal difference. The Devonshire Colts are close behind in third place with six points.
The race for the Golden Boot is also fiercely competitive:
David Jones (Dandy Town Hornets) and Jonte Smith (North Village Rams) are the early leaders with three goals each. They are closely pursued by Zeiko Lewis (Young Men Social Club), Samuel McKittrick and his X-Road’s teammate Donovan Thompson, and Elisha Darrell (Devonshire Colts), who all sit on two goals apiece.
FIRST DIVISION
The First Division standings are heavily influenced by a massive opening day result, putting the Southampton Rangers in a seemingly unassailable position on goal difference.
The Rangers are the clear league leaders after following up their stunning 15-0 opening day victory over Hamilton Parish with another four goals this past weekend. They sit on six points, identical to the Somerset Trojans, who have a goal difference of plus four (+4).
Trailing slightly behind are Robin Hood, Somerset Eagles, and Vasco, all on three points. It is worth noting that Robin Hood has only played one match, while the other clubs mentioned have played twice.
The early Golden Boot race has seen an incredible surge of scoring:
Keishen Bean (Robin Hood) and Sijay Samuels (Southampton Rangers), along with his teammate Ellington Weldon, all share the top spot, having remarkably netted five goals each in the opening fixtures.
