Freshman Bermudian swimmer Thomas Cechini delivered a strong individual performance to help power the Loyola University Maryland Men's Swimming and Diving team to a dominant 287-70 victory over Lafayette College in a Patriot League dual meet at the Mangione Pool at the Fitness and Aquatic Center in Baltimore, Maryland.
TheLoyola University Maryland cruised to the massive win, dominating the action across the pool, with Cechini proving a valuable asset in both distance and sprint events.
Cechini secured two key third-place finishes in the demanding distance events: Men’s 1000 Yard Freestyle: Cechini touched the wall in 3rd place with a time of 9:52.15. Men’s 500 Yard Freestyle: He matched his earlier result, taking 3rd place with a time of 4:47.39.
In the sprint challenge, Cechini showcased his versatility by securing a top-half finish in the field: Men’s 50 Yard Freestyle: The freshman clocked a time of 21.76 seconds to finish 8th.
Cechini also led off the Loyola University Men’s 200 Yard Freestyle Relay team, contributing to their 5th place finish with a combined time of 1:29.67.
The commanding victory for the Loyola Men's team marks an excellent start to their Patriot League season, with Cechini's consistently strong finishes proving highly valuable to the Greyhounds' point tally.
