Netball National Team Spotlight Zariah Amory

IslandStats.com
www.islandstats.com continues the spotlight on the Bermuda Netball National Team selected for the Battle of the Isles tournament being held in St. Eustatius and St. Maarten, October 21st – 26th 2025.

Given the team has been selected well in advance of the tournament, we will give you our viewers the opportunity to help celebrate the athletes prior to them representing Bermuda.

We continue the series today with Zariah Amory.

Full Name: Zariah Amory

Team/Club: Tigers

Best pre-game hype song: Anything Dancehall

If you could have a superpower, what would it be? Be invisible. I’ll be around but nobody would know.

How did you first get into your sport? Playing in primary school. My dad & I were riding across the park when we saw North Village training. I wanted to play for a club badly so I went to change my clothes and went back to the courts. I started out as a Lady Ram under Stacy Grant.

Who has been your biggest inspiration or role model, both in and out of your sport? I would say my sisters Jahkenya & Jahtuere. I grew up watching them both play & of course wanted to follow in their footsteps. They’ve pushed me to be better.

What is the most valuable lesson your sport has taught you? To be patient and open minded.

Tell us about your proudest moment as an athlete so far. To be able to represent Bermuda in three different sports.

Describe your training regimen. What does a typical week look like for you? Show up to training on the respective days and put the work in.

What’s your game-day routine? Any specific superstitions or rituals you have to follow? I actually don’t have a routine.. I just get myself ready & head to the courts ready to play.

What goes through your mind in the final moments of a close game or race? To keep pushing to try and go for either an interception or turn over if we’re down. If we are ahead, make sure we hang onto the ball watch out for the little mistakes that can cost us the game. Don’t throw the ball away!

How do you handle a tough loss or a disappointing performance? I take it for what it is. Some days might be better than others so I just reflect on things I could have done better and try to adjust for the next game.

What's your go-to activity when you're not training or competing? To stay home, relax & sleep! I love a good nap lol.

If you weren't an athlete, what would you be doing? I couldn’t see myself not being an athlete, I’ve always been into sports.

What's one thing most people don't know about you? I’m a gamer.. I play Playstation.

Who would you invite to your dream dinner party (can be anyone, living or historical)? Those who have been beside me for it all- My Friends & Family.

What advice would you give to a young person aspiring to follow in your footsteps? To keep training, stay focused and work on the basics. Be open to taking constructive criticism from your teammates and coaches. Don’t take things personal!

What's one thing you hope to achieve in the next five years, both in your sport and in life? In my sport, right now I’m not as fit as I used to be so I would like to get my fitness back up so I can run the courts like I used to. In life, I want to be successful in my career. Be able to travel more.

“Finish this sentence: "My sport means..." Communication is key. Teamwork is key.
