The Caribbean cricket community is celebrating the induction of Vernon Springer into the prestigious Cricket Hall of Fame (CHOF) in Hartford, Connecticut, USA. The honour recognizes his over four decades of distinguished service to the game across the region, spanning multiple roles from coaching to broadcasting.
Springer, who currently serves as the Chief Operations Officer of the Leeward Islands Cricket Board, was inducted as part of the 44th class of the Hall of Fame—the first institution of its kind established in the world, tracing its roots back to 1980.
Springer’s career is unique in its breadth, covering nearly every facet of the sport:
Coach and Administrator: He has been a key figure in the development of cricket in the Leeward Islands, working to ensure tournaments are played at all levels, including the highly influential Under-13 programme that he helped formulate and which involved teams from across the Caribbean, including Bermuda. Analyst and Commentator: Springer is widely known throughout the region as a sincere and honest voice, providing expert analysis and commentary for platforms such as SportsMax.
His induction ceremony, scheduled for Saturday, October 4th, 2025, sees him join a distinguished class that includes former West Indies cricketer Sir Richie Richardson and former England cricketer Roland Butcher.
The award is not only a personal honour but a testament to the enduring spirit of Caribbean cricket development, which Springer has tirelessly championed for over 40 years.
