Williams Attends CONCACAF Referee Workshop in Miami

IslandStats.com
Bermuda Football Association's Head of Referees, Crenstant Williams, is currently in Miami, representing the island at the 2025 CONCACAF Head of Referees Workshop. The event is being held at the CONCACAF Headquarters, bringing together top officials from across the region to discuss the future of officiating.

Day one of the workshop focused on several key topics, including the nomination process for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Attendees also analysed the performance of CONCACAF referees during the recent Gold Cup, looking for areas of improvement and celebrating their successes.

Another major point of discussion was the development of refereeing talent. There was a strong emphasis on the importance of creating assessor programmes within each Member Association (MA). These programmes are seen as crucial for the continued growth and quality of refereeing at a local level.

The workshop also covered the tiered system for all referees, providing a clear pathway for progression. Details were shared about upcoming seminars for Caribbean referees and instructors who are not yet on the FIFA list or in the CONCACAF Academy.

In a significant push for diversity, CONCACAF also made a special appeal to all MAs for the recruitment and development of female referees. The initiative aims to increase female representation on officiating crews across the region, from grassroots to the highest levels of competition.
