After two postponements because of adverse weather, the Bermuda Power Boat Association finally staged its 2025 Round the Island Race, with Henry Talbot and Andrew Cottingham emerging as overall winners.
Talbot and Cottingham powered D007 to be first across the line and secured the D Class title in a race that went ahead in improved conditions. The event, held after consecutive cancellations earlier in the season, allowed drivers and co-pilots to return to action and complete the circuit around the island.
Other divisional honors were shared among the fleet. Brandon DeSilva and Blake Burgess took the A Class victory, while Steven Meireles and Aaron Daniel topped the B Class. Chad Sutherland and Lee Wilson rounded out the class winners with the C Class crown.
Organizer's and competitors welcomed the successful running of the race after the disruptions, with teams praising the safety preparations and the perseverance of crews who had waited for the opportunity to compete.
The race did have some misfortunes, with Damon Morris & Anthanay Steede sinking off High Point, while Ryan Resendes & Makinday Johansen struck reef and boat started to sink so they beached it to save it.
