Bermuda's Women's Squash team faced a tough challenge in their opening team match at the XXVI Pan American Squash Championship in Brazil, ultimately falling to a strong United States of America side.
The first match of the tie saw Abigail Brewer take on Caroline Fouts. Despite a spirited effort, Brewer was defeated in three straight games, 11-0, 11-3, 11-1, in a 16-minute battle.
Following that, Rachel Barnes stepped onto the court to face Riya Navani. Barnes also went down in straight games, 11-3, 11-2, 11-5, in a 15-minute encounter.
With the USA having already secured an unassailable 2-0 lead in the tie, the third match between Bermuda's Charlotte Toogood and the USA's Laila Sedky was not played.
The team will be looking to regroup and bounce back in their upcoming matches as they continue their campaign in the championship.
