The Somerset Trojans have been crowned the Bermuda Football Association’s Under 23 Knock-out Champions, following a thrilling 5-2 victory over FC Bascome in a dramatic final.

The Trojans found themselves in the showpiece event after Dandy Town Hornets were disqualified for fielding an ineligible player, and they certainly made the most of their opportunity in a goal-laden encounter.

It was FC Bascome who drew first blood, with Ben Osset finding the back of the net in the 12th minute to put them 1-0 up. However, the Somerset Trojans responded swiftly, as Keyni Mills pulled a goal back in the 23rd minute, levelling the scores. The see-saw nature of the first half continued just a minute later when Hunter Outerbridge restored FC Bascome's lead. But the Trojans showed resilience, with Michari Tear-Deleon equalising in the 39th minute, sending the teams into the half-time interval locked at 2-2.

The second half belonged to the Somerset Trojans. They seized their first lead of the night just a minute after the restart, with Keyni Mills netting his second goal of the game in the 46th minute. The momentum firmly shifted, and the Trojans extended their advantage in the 78th minute through Enrique Mendes. Five minutes later, Kai Sampson put the icing on the cake, scoring to give the Somerset Trojans a commanding 5-2 lead and ultimately securing them the Under 23 Knock-out Championship.

Kamran McNeil was named the MVP for the Somerset Trojans, while Jaiyden Robinson was named the MVP for FC Bascome.

A memorable final showcasing the emerging talent in Bermudian football, with the Somerset Trojans ultimately prevailing after a captivating back-and-forth contest.
