The Long Beach Olympic Classes Regatta continued to test the international sailing fleet, with Bermudian sailors Adriana Penruddocke and Campbell Patton navigating challenging conditions and experiencing mixed fortunes on the water.
Adriana Penruddocke, competing in the highly competitive ILCA6 Fleet of 44 sailors, currently sits in 27th place with 190 net points after eleven races. On the latest day of racing, Penruddocke recorded finishes of 35th and 38th, reflecting the tough competition and variable conditions.
In the 52-competitor ILCA7 Fleet, Campbell Patton is positioned in 24th place with 200 net points after eleven races. Patton's day saw a promising start, crossing the line 12th in the first race. However, his second race of the day was marred by a U-Flag Disqualification. This penalty, under Racing Rule 30.3, means his boat was disqualified from the race for being in the triangular area formed by the ends of the starting line and the first mark during the final minute before the starting signal.
Both Bermudian sailors continue to gain invaluable experience against a world-class field as the regatta progresses, facing the highs and lows inherent in elite-level sailing competition.
