Riley Khan Scored
IslandStats.com
It was a busy and dramatic day for Bermuda's LB Football Academy teams today, as they entered the intense knockout stages of the prestigious Iber Cup in Portugal, one of the world's premier youth football tournaments.

The 2012 LB Football Academy Boy’s team delivered a dominant performance in their lone game of the day, securing a commanding 5-0 victory over JC Sarilhense. This impressive win was spearheaded by a superb hat-trick from Earl Remi Furbert, who continued his prolific scoring form. Xavi Dill and Austin Murphy each added a goal to round off a comprehensive team effort, advancing their side in the competition.

It proved to be a mixed day for the 2011 LB Football Academy Girls team, who faced a double-header in the knockout rounds. They started strongly, defeating Gondomar SC 1-0 thanks to a lone goal from Nadia Medeiros, demonstrating their defensive solidity and ability to grind out a result. However, their second match presented a tougher challenge, as the LB Football Academy Girls went down 2-1 to Alliance Eleven, despite Riley Khan scoring their lone goal.

In a true goal feast, the 2009 LB Football Academy Boys found themselves on the wrong side of a narrow 6-5 defeat to URD Tires. Despite scoring five goals, their valiant offensive effort wasn't quite enough to secure passage to the next round. The goals for LB Football Academy came from a variety of players, with single strikes from Jordan King, Jack Fischer, Jéon Wolfe, Mateus Amaral, and D'ari Coddington.

The Iber Cup knockout stages are designed to test the resilience and skill of young players, and Bermuda's LB Football Academy teams are certainly gaining invaluable experience against top international opposition. They will look to learn from these intense encounters as the tournament progresses.
