Seven promising young swimmers from Bermuda's Harbour Swim Club have made a fantastic impression at the 2025 GCST Mark McCaw Summer Classic swim meet in Fort Myers, Florida. This event marked the first overseas competition for this group of athletes, aged 9-12, and they certainly rose to the occasion.
The three-day meet, featuring preliminary competitions in the mornings and finals in the evenings, saw remarkable performances from the Bermudian contingent. Despite the challenges of travel and a demanding volume of swimming over the period, all the girls achieved outstanding swims, recording numerous personal bests – a significant accomplishment for young athletes.
The team, comprising Colette Durkin, Eva Desjardins, Myla Desjardins, Charlotte Henderson, Iris Duda, Evelyn Fahy, and Aine Fahy, kicked off the meet with a memorable moment, singing the Bermuda National Anthem to the audience. They then continued to impress in the water, with many of the girls making the cut for the finals each evening.
Beyond their strong individual results, the young swimmers demonstrated exceptional team spirit and maturity throughout the competition. Their successful outing has clearly left them eager for future international meets, signaling a bright future for Bermudian swimming talent.
