Bermuda's sailors have begun their campaign at the 2025 Team Racing World Championship Challenge in the picturesque Narragansett Bay, Rhode Island, facing a challenging opening day.
The prestigious event got underway with Bermuda entering the competition eager to make their mark against a strong international field. However, the opening day proved to be a difficult one for the Bermudian team.
They started their day against Corinthian and unfortunately suffered a defeat. This was followed by another setback in their second race against Newport Harbor. The third race saw them face a different Newport Harbor contingent, Newport Harbor YC, and again, victory eluded the Bermudian team.
The challenges continued as they then faced Kiwi Racing, the Italian Team, and finally the Swedish team in their last race of the day, with all three encounters resulting in further defeats for the Bermuda squad.
At the end of the first day of competition, Bermuda finds themselves with a 0 wins and 6 losses record. While the opening day presented a tough set of results, the Team Racing World Championship is a marathon, not a sprint.
The Bermuda sailors will be determined to regroup and learn from their experiences on day one as the racing continues tomorrow. They will be looking to find their rhythm and secure some crucial wins to climb back into contention in the championship. With their resilience and skill, they will undoubtedly be aiming for a much-improved performance on the second day of racing on Narragansett Bay.
