The Bermuda Football Association's Under-23 Summer League got underway at the BAA Field last night with an opening double header that provided a glimpse of the young talent on display. Devonshire Colts and Somerset Trojans both secured impressive victories in their respective matches.

The opening fixture of the Under-23 Summer League saw the Devonshire Colts claim a 2-0 victory over the Somerset Eagles in a hard-fought encounter.
The deadlock was broken in the 37th minute when Shane Robinson found the back of the net for the Devonshire Colts, giving his side a crucial 1-0 lead heading into the half-time break.
Robinson proved to be the difference-maker in the match, doubling the Devonshire Colts' advantage in the 80th minute. His second goal sealed the victory for the Colts, earning them the first three points of the new Under-23 Summer League season.
Somerset Trojans 4 PHC Zebras 0
The nightcap at the BAA Field saw a more dominant performance as the Somerset Trojans swept aside the PHC Zebras with a convincing 4-0 victory.
The Somerset Trojans got off to a flying start, with Rio Russell opening the scoring in the 7th minute, giving his team an early 1-0 lead. The Trojans' advantage was doubled just four minutes later in the 11th minute, courtesy of an own goal from the PHC Zebras.
Another own goal in the 44th minute further extended the Somerset Trojans' lead to 3-0 as the half-time whistle blew, leaving PHC with a significant mountain to climb.
The Somerset Trojans continued their dominance in the second half, adding a fourth goal in the 67th minute when Enrique Mendes found the net. From that point, the Somerset Trojans comfortably saw out the remainder of the match, securing a comprehensive 4-0 victory and a strong start to their Under-23 Summer League campaign.
The opening night's action at the BAA Field suggests an exciting season ahead in the Under-23 Summer League, with both Devonshire Colts and Somerset Trojans laying down early markers with their victories.
