The opening weekend of the 2025 Bermuda Cricket Board season was completed with First Division T20 action at Lord’s in St. David’s and Somerset Cricket Club, producing two decisive victories and a nail-biting tie.

Western Stars Won by 64 Runs

Western Stars 123/6 Willow Cuts 59


The 2025 Bermuda cricket season got underway at the Somerset Cricket Club with Western Stars delivering a commanding performance to secure a 59-run victory over Willow Cuts in their opening T20 clash.

Western Stars, batting first after the season's first ball, posted a total of 123 for 6 in their 20 overs. Tomeiko Wilson anchored the innings with a patient knock of 40 runs off 49 balls, which included four boundaries and a six. Rohan Davis provided valuable support, contributing 30 runs from 37 deliveries, hitting three fours in the process. Micah Simons was the pick of the Willow Cuts bowling attack, claiming two wickets for just 17 runs in his four-over spell.

In reply, Willow Cuts struggled to gain any momentum against a disciplined Western Stars bowling unit. They were eventually bowled out for a meagre 59 runs. Ras Solomon Burrows was the only Willow Cuts batsman to reach double figures, scoring 11 runs. Western Stars' bowling attack was spearheaded by Seth Campbell, who returned impressive figures of four wickets for 23 runs in his four overs. Rohan Davis capped off a fine all-round performance by also taking four wickets, conceding 27 runs in his four-over spell.

Southampton Rangers Won by 48 Runs

Southampton Rangers 175/6 Flatt’s Victoria 127/4


At Lord’s, the Southampton Rangers secured a comfortable 48-run victory over Flatt’s Victoria. After losing the toss and being asked to bat, the Southampton Rangers posted a strong total of 175 for 6 in their 20 overs. Dion Stovell led the charge with a powerful innings of 70 runs off just 48 balls, which included eight boundaries and a six.

Angus Betts was the pick of the Flatt's Victoria bowlers, taking two wickets for 39 runs in his four overs. Notably, Flatt's Victoria also featured Katherine Bean-Rosario, who bowled three overs for 32 runs and claimed one wicket.

In reply, Flatt’s Victoria struggled to keep pace with the required run rate and were eventually restricted to 127 for 4 in their 20 overs. Kijuan Franks top-scored with a quickfire 49 off 29 balls, hitting three fours and three sixes. However, Darrien Gibbons proved to be the key bowler for the Southampton Rangers, taking three wickets for just 27 runs in his four overs, ensuring a convincing win for his side.

Match Ended in a Tie

Warwick Workmen's Club 101/6 Pembroke Hamilton Club 101


The second match at the Somerset Cricket Club provided a far tighter affair, ending in a thrilling tie between Warwick Workmen's Club and Pembroke Hamilton Club (PHC).

Warwick Workmen's Club won the toss and elected to bat first but were restricted to 101 for 6 in their 20 overs. Callum Macfarlane top-scored with 28 runs. Dionte Dowling was the standout bowler for PHC, claiming an impressive three wickets for just 13 runs in his four overs.

In reply, Pembroke Hamilton Club looked to be on course for victory but were dramatically bowled out for 101 with just one ball remaining. Charles Trott top-scored with 23 runs. Kamau Leverock was the star with the ball for Warwick Workmen's Club, taking four crucial wickets for 17 runs in his four overs, while Jalani Richardson also contributed significantly, taking three wickets for 23 runs in his 3.5 overs, ultimately leading to the dramatic tie.
