The USL Pathway Classic, formerly known as the USL Academy Cup, has expanded its reach this year, now welcoming teams from US Youth Soccer alongside the traditional USL club academies.
FC Bascome has sent a strong Under 13-aged roster to compete in the Under 14 Premier Division, including Sami Luber, Christian Phillips-Steede, Xavier Hidalgo, Xavier Thomas-Bassett, Darshan Dhesi, Vashon Martin, Cairo Burgess, Adam Barritt, Xonti Burch, Kyron Bryan, Jace Postlethwaite, Mackay Browne, Tayte Browne, De’ari Trott, A'Daj O'Brien, Conor Thomas, Tyler Pickering, and Conor O’Sullivan, under the guidance of coaches Tyrell Burgess, Mark Mills, and Andrew Bascome.
FC Bascome got single strikes from Adam Barritt, Cairo Burgess and Conor O’Sullivan.
Following the team's opening win, FC Bascome president Andrew Bascome expressed his optimism and highlighted the significance of the tournament for the academy's development. "For us, the USL Pathway Classic is not only a well-run and highly competitive tournament that we’re honored to be invited to—it also acts as a reality check for our players and coaches," said Bascome. "It helps us measure progress and pinpoint areas that need further development. I was very impressed with how our U13s performed last year against strong competition. Winning the division earned us a place in the Premier Division this year. Our players understand the challenge ahead, and they’re ready to rise to it.”
FC Bascome's participation in the USL Pathway Classic provides a valuable platform for their young players to test themselves against high-level competition and gain crucial experience on the national stage. Their opening victory will undoubtedly provide a positive momentum as they continue their campaign in Tampa.
