A contingent of talented young Optimist sailors from Bermuda are currently battling it out against a formidable international fleet at the Easter Point Regatta in Slovenia. The event has drawn a remarkable 467 sailors representing 63 countries, highlighting the global appeal of this prestigious youth sailing competition.

After challenging weather conditions on the opening morning, which prevented any racing due to strong winds, Day Two delivered ideal sailing conditions. Steady breezes ranging from 12 to 15 knots, coupled with clear blue skies and a picturesque racecourse overlooking Portoroz and Piran, allowed for a full schedule of four races.

Leading the Bermudian charge is Thomas McBain, who currently sits in an impressive 35th place overall with 23 net points. McBain demonstrated his consistency with three top-10 finishes, his best performance being a commendable 6th place in the second race of the day.

Jesse Savage is also holding a solid position within the top third of the fleet, currently in 101st place with 54 net points. Savage's best result of the day was a 13th-place finish, also achieved in the second race. Harry Brown is the next best Bermudian sailor in 164th place with 87 net points, his top performance being a 19th-place finish in the third race
.
The remaining Bermudian sailors are gaining valuable experience in this highly competitive environment. Emma Brown currently occupies 219th place with 115 net points, while Rex Henagulph is in 231st with 124 net points. Miguel Liete sits in 273rd place with 145 net points.

Walker Smith is in 287th place with 152 net points, closely followed by Heath Myers in 289th with 153 net points. Benjamin DeCouto holds the 303rd spot with 159 net points, and Sean Pedro rounds out the Bermudian contingent in 349th place with 190 net points.

With several days of racing still to come, the Bermudian sailors will be aiming to build on their performances and gain further valuable experience on the international stage. McBain's strong start provides encouragement for the fleet, and the remaining sailors will be looking to climb the rankings as the regatta progresses. The Easter Point Regatta offers a fantastic opportunity for these young Bermudian athletes to test their skills against some of the best Optimist sailors in the world.
