Bermuda endured a challenging innings with the bat but ultimately held their nerve in the field to secure a tight 8-run victory over a Cayman Islands President's XI in their second warm-up match ahead of the upcoming North America Cup.
Having won the toss, the Cayman Islands President's XI opted to bowl first, and their decision appeared to pay dividends as they restricted Bermuda's scoring after a promising start. Openers Terryn Fray and Delray Rawlins put on 47 for the first wicket in the opening seven overs, suggesting a substantial total might be on the cards.
Captain Fray, who looked comfortable at the crease, top-scored with a brisk 31 off 27 deliveries, including three boundaries. Rawlins provided valuable support with 22 off 25 balls, though surprisingly without finding the ropes. Despite their efforts, the middle and lower order struggled to build partnerships, losing eight wickets for a mere 64 runs in the subsequent 13 overs. Sabir came close to securing a hat-trick during his spell, ultimately finishing with impressive figures of 2 wickets for 16 runs in his four overs. Despite wickets falling at regular intervals, Vicky Dhaniram provided resistance for the President's XI, anchoring the innings with an unbeaten 25, which included two boundaries.
