Logan Jiménez and his Hibernian FC Under-18 teammates extended their winning streak with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Aberdeen at Cormack Park, a result that propelled them to the top of the CAS Elite Under-18 League.
Darren McGregor’s side left it late to secure the vital three points, with a dramatic 88th-minute winner.
The match was a tense and tight affair, with both teams proving difficult to break down. The first half was characterized by strong defensive displays and limited clear-cut chances.
Aberdeen threatened early on, but Hibs goalkeeper Ryan Mallon was called into action, making a couple of crucial saves to keep the score level.
At the other end, Zach Bruce and Logan Jiménez posed the greatest attacking threat for Hibs in the first 45 minutes, but they were unable to trouble the Aberdeen goalkeeper.
The second half mirrored the first, with both defences remaining resolute. Aberdeen's goalkeeper, Rodrigo Vitols, was kept busy, denying further opportunities from Jiménez and Dean Cleland.
Just as the game appeared destined for a goalless draw, substitute Luke Davidson emerged as the hero for Hibs. Davidson timed his run perfectly to meet Rory Whittaker’s precise cross, heading the ball home and sparking jubilant celebrations from the Hibs team.
The single, late goal proved to be the difference, securing a crucial victory that sends Hibs to the top of the league table.
