The University of Charleston hosted the event, which was completed in 15-20 knot winds, providing challenging but exciting sailing conditions.
Eckerd College's team consisted of skippers Jordan Vieira, Paul Rodrigues Jr., and Carter Morin, and crews Tia Soultanakis, Lily Schwartz, and Avery Guck. They finished the championships with an overall record of 7 wins and 8 losses.
In the opening round of the competition, Eckerd College demonstrated their potential by securing victories over several opponents. They recorded wins against Miami, NC State, Florida State, Rollins, The Citadel, and Clemson. Notably, in their victories over Florida State, Clemson, and Rollins, the Tritons showcased strong teamwork and boat handling, achieving 1-2-3 winning combinations.
However, Eckerd faced difficulties in the Final Four round, losing all three of their initial races. They managed to secure a win against USF in the second round of the Final Four, achieving a 1-2-4 finish.
Ultimately, the University of Charleston proved dominant, winning the SAISA Team Race Championships with an impressive 14-1 record.
While Eckerd College finished fourth, their performance, including their early victories and strong finishes, highlights their competitive ability in team racing.
