FC Haka have secured the signature of Bermudian winger Djair Parfitt, with the player signing a contract for the 2025 season.
Parfitt's arrival at the club comes after a period without a contract. He brings with him valuable experience in the Veikkausliiga, Finland's top-tier football league, where he played for Ilves in the 2022 and 2023 seasons. During his time with Ilves, Parfitt scored six goals in 26 appearances.
FC Haka Head Coach Andy Smith highlighted Parfitt's Veikkausliiga experience as a key factor in the signing. Smith stated, "Parfitt is an experienced player who knows this league. He brings us more danger in the attacking third." This suggests that Parfitt is expected to bolster Haka's offensive capabilities.
Parfitt himself expressed his happiness to be returning to Finland. He commented, "Finland is a great country to live in, and there is also a competitive football league here, where most teams play attacking football that I like."
He also spoke of his ambitions with his new club: "FC Haka is often an underdog in the Veikkausliiga, but we have skilled players and the club has an extensive, successful history." This indicates Parfitt's belief in the team's potential to compete despite challenges.
Parfitt further outlined his playing style and strengths: "I see myself more of a goal-scoring threat, and also creating it for others. I believe my personal strengths are technicality and challenging, as well as scoring goals and creating opportunities for my teammates."
Finally, he articulated his overall approach to his role at FC Haka: "My goal is simply to be the best I can be every day, to stay professional. This is a team sport, so if everyone can do their job to the best of their ability, we should be successful."
Parfitt's signing is expected to strengthen FC Haka's attacking options, and his experience in the Veikkausliiga will be a valuable asset to the team.
