The nationally ranked #37 Arizona State University (ASU) Men's Tennis team, featuring Daniel Phillips, achieved a significant victory, defeating nationally ranked #68 Oklahoma State 4-3 at the Whiteman Tennis Center. This win marked ASU's first two conference victories of the season in their inaugural year in the Big 12.
The match began with a setback for Arizona State in the doubles. While the #66 ranked pair of Bor Artnak and Phillips secured a 6-3 win over Oklahoma State's #58 ranked duo, Alessio Basile and Nicolas Kobelt, ASU lost the other two doubles matches, conceding the opening point of the contest.
However, Arizona State, led by their strong top four singles players, quickly turned the tide in the singles matches.
Phillips participated in the singles action, taking on Ian Bracks. Unfortunately, Phillips was defeated in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4.
Despite Phillips's loss in singles, Arizona State's overall performance in the singles matches was strong enough to secure the team victory.
This win is a significant achievement for Arizona State, showcasing their ability to compete and win against ranked opposition in the Big 12.
