Challenging Day Two for Bermudian Sailors in Spain

IslandStats.com
The Troféo Princesa Sofía Mallorca by FERGUS Hotels, a key event for Olympic qualification hopefuls, continued with challenging conditions on the Bay of Palma. Following light winds in the morning and the anticipation of a sea breeze in the afternoon, the wind speed on the racecourses struggled to reach even 1 or 2 knots. This led to postponements for the ILCA 6 and ILCA 7 fleets, before racing eventually got underway, with Bermudian sailors Sebastian Kempe and Adriana Penruddocke taking to the water.

Day Two presented a tougher test for the Bermudian sailors compared to their opening day's performances.

Kempe in ILCA 7 Fleet

Sebastian Kempe is competing in the highly competitive 174-boat ILCA 7 fleet. After two more races, bringing the series total to four, Kempe slipped down the standings. He moved from his initial position of 28th place to 34th place with 39 net points.

In the first race of the day, and the third of the series, Kempe finished 17th.

The second race of the day proved even more challenging, with Kempe crossing the line in 27th place.

Kempe faced difficulties in maintaining his position, highlighting the competitive nature of the ILCA 7 fleet and the impact of the challenging conditions.

Penruddocke in ILCA 6 Fleet

Adriana Penruddocke is competing in the 113-boat ILCA 6 fleet. She finished the day with 44 net points, also dropping from her starting position of 14th to 29th overall.

Penruddocke finished in 22nd place in the first race of the day.

The second race continued to be challenging, with Penruddocke finishing in 37th place.

Penruddocke also faced a challenging day, with the light and unstable winds making it difficult to replicate her first day's performance.

The Troféo Princesa Sofía Mallorca by FERGUS Hotels continues to test the sailors' skills and adaptability. While Day Two proved to be challenging for Kempe and Penruddocke, the regatta is still ongoing, and there are further opportunities for them to improve their positions.
