The Bermuda Cricket Board (BCB) has announced the squad that will represent the island at the upcoming North America Cup, set to be held in the Cayman Islands from April 19th to 27th, 2025.
The team is scheduled to depart Bermuda on April 14th and will play two warm-up matches in preparation for the inaugural tournament. This early departure and warm-up schedule will be crucial in ensuring the team is well-prepared for the competition ahead.
A strong contingent of the selected players has experience in Bermuda's most prestigious cricket event. Twelve of the fourteen players chosen featured in the 2024 Annual Cup Match Classic, highlighting the importance of local talent in the national squad.
The team will be led by Terryn Fray, a prominent figure in Bermudian cricket, who captains both Bailey’s Bay and Somerset Cricket Club in the Cup Match Classic. His leadership will be vital as Bermuda aims for success in the tournament.
There are some notable changes to the squad compared to the team that competed in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Americas Sub-Regional Qualifiers in Argentina. Dion Stovell, Tre Manders, Chare Smith, and Jonte Smith are among those missing out on selection. In their place, Dalin Richardson, Delray Rawlins, Marcus Scotland, and Alan Douglas Jr. have been called up to the squad.
The North America Cup promises to be a competitive tournament, featuring the national T20 teams of several nations. Alongside Bermuda, the competition will include the Bahamas, Canada, Cayman Islands, and the USA. The tournament will provide a platform for these teams to showcase their T20 skills and compete for regional supremacy.
