Smith Misses Cut by a Stroke Despite at La Vie Masters

IslandStats.com
Camiko Smith's journey at The La Vie Masters in Oman came to a frustrating end as he missed the cut by a single stroke. Smith's second round saw him card a 3-over par 74, leaving him at 5-over par for the tournament.

Smith's second round was a rollercoaster, featuring 4 Birdies, 8 Pars, 5 Bogeys, and 1 Double Bogey. This mixed bag of results ultimately proved costly in his bid to make the cut.

Smith shared his reflections on the tournament with www.islandstats.com:

“First off I’m extremely grateful to be able to do this (play golf).

Looking back at my First Round, the desert heat was in full effect today, with temperatures hitting 80°F, but I got off to a really good start and felt strong out there. I had a clear plan, stuck with it 100%, and my short game was sharp. I managed the greens well when I missed and gave myself several solid looks at Birdies—finally rolling one in.

Apart from a few blemishes, I worked my way around the course nicely. There are putts to be made out there—I just need to tidy up a bit and let them go to their home! Funny enough, it took me until my last hole to make another Birdie.”

Smith's account of his first round highlights his strong start and positive approach, despite some minor errors.

He continued, reflecting on his second round:

“In Round 2, I got off to a promising start, sticking with my plan and nearly rolling in a Birdie on the opening hole before sinking one on the second. But golf has a way of keeping you on your toes—a tough stretch of four straight Bogeys and a Double Bogey on the 10th put me in a battle to make up ground.

I’m happy with how I finished, dropping two Birdies on 16 and 17, but I can’t help feeling gutted overall. Felt really solid starting out, which makes it frustrating not to have capitalized more. Plenty to take away from today, and I’ll be looking to sharpen things up moving forward!”

Smith's honest assessment of his performance reveals his determination and desire to improve. His strong finish with two birdies demonstrates his ability to fight back, but the earlier errors ultimately proved decisive.

Despite the disappointment of missing the cut, Smith's participation in The La Vie Masters provided valuable experience. He will no doubt use the lessons learned to refine his game and strive for better results in future tournaments.
