Fresh from a successful indoor campaign, Za'Kayza Parsons and her University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) Women's Outdoor Track and Field teammates have kicked off their outdoor season at the highly competitive UCF Black and Gold Invitational.
The two-day event, held at the UCF Track and Field Complex in Orlando, Florida, is renowned as one of the nation's premier meets for commencing the outdoor track and field season. This year's edition attracted over 40 programs, highlighting the event's prestige and the high level of competition on display.
Parsons, looking to build on UMBC's best America East result since 2016, took to the track in the Women's 200m Dash. She delivered a solid performance, finishing 92nd overall with a season-best time of 25.64 seconds.
The UCF Black and Gold Invitational provides a valuable opportunity for athletes to test their early-season form against a strong field. The event's reputation for attracting top programs ensures a high level of competition, allowing athletes to gauge their progress and identify areas for improvement.
For Parsons, her season-best time in the 200m dash represents a positive start to her outdoor campaign. The experience of competing at such a prestigious meet will be invaluable as she and her UMBC teammates prepare for the challenges ahead.
