Gabrielle Arnold's plans to compete in the Mid South Gravel race were disrupted as wildfires raging in the Stillwater, Oklahoma area led to the cancellation of the event.
Organizers of The Mid South Gravel race had hoped to avoid the word "canceled," but as the wildfires intensified, they were forced to make the difficult decision to scrap the 100-mile race and its companion events.
Arnold posted on social media, “I was ready to compete but the day quickly took a turn when gale force winds and wildfires broke out in our neighborhood, forcing us to quickly evacuate from Stillwater.
After a long day of navigating the chaos and figuring out our next move, we were lucky to find safety in Tulsa with members of our LA Swea Racing team, before making our way home.”
